The latest generation HEX-V2 is based on the technology of Ross-Tech’s revolutionary HEX-NET® interface, which was completely re-designed to be faster, and more versatile. The HEX-NET and HEX-V2 are now the fastest interfaces Ross-Tech currently sell. They can perform Auto-Scans on 2005 and later models much faster than the older HEX-USB+CAN interface.

Features:
Plugs directly into 1996 through current model year cars; works with all diagnostic-capable VW/Audi cars, even the latest models which require a direct CAN connection and use the UDS/ODX protocol.
VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda cars with the 16-pin diagnostic socket including models using CAN and UDS/ODX protocols
Pre-1995 VW/Audi cars, when used with a 2×2 adapter (supplied separately).

VCDS Windows Desktop Software – Compatible with most windows operating systems from XP to Windows 11.

Using the system on a Windows PC, you can:
Make it act as a “dongle” – use the VCDS on a Windows PC
Read and clear fault codes from all systems within the car, e.g. engine, airbag, ABS, instruments, parking sensors etc.
View live data from the sensors within the car
Reset service lights (both fixed and variable service intervals)
Read stored and intermittent fault codes
Graph and log live data with the car running
Automatically read fault codes from all car systems in a single search
Perform basic setting functions, adaptations and soft coding

WHAT IS A VIN ?

Vehicle identification number or more commonly a chassis number, in order to perform more complex functions, you will be required to store a VIN number to proceed.

VCDS will always ask beforehand, so depending on what you are trying to do, you can make the decision then.

THE KITS ARE SOLD WITH VIN LIMITS, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN ?

There is a maximum number of vehicles you can work on with full functionality, as previously mentioned. When you need to store a VIN it will be permanently embedded and cannot be deleted. Each of the kits can be upgraded to its next level, this is done directly with Ross-Tech on their website at an extra cost.

IF I REACH MY VIN STORAGE LIMIT, WHAT HAPPENS THEN ?

You will only be able to use basic functions of VCDS on any other vehicle, other than the ones stored - operations like scanning, fault finding and clearing codes, anything that requires entering a control module will not be possible. You will need to purchase an upgrade from Ross-Tech to work on more vehicles, which is handy if you do not wish to spend a lot initially and do not mind upgrading your lead during the many years you use it.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CHEAPEST KIT AND A MORE EXPENSIVE VERSION, DOES IT OFFER MORE FUNCTIONS ?

All kits perform exactly the same full functionality, the only difference is the VIN storage limitation and the ability to use the full functions with vehicles - Unlimited kit has no storage limitations, so is naturally the most expensive.

OTHER THAN VIN UPGRADING, ARE THERE ANY OTHER COSTS ?

All updates to VCDS software and firmware are free, as and when Ross-Tech release them, as long as the laptop or device is connected to the internet, it will ask you to update. Firmware updates are done slightly differently, we include a handy video for this on the memory stick provided, so there is nothing else to pay for.

REGISTERING MY LEAD WITH ROSS-TECH - IS IT NECESSARY ?

All new V2 leads must now be registered with Ross-Tech after 12 uses. Included on the memory stick is a video on how to do this.

WHAT WARRANTY DO I GET ?

The VCDS lead is supplied with a 12 month hardware warranty. You can also register on the Ross-Tech's forum to post any issues that you may have with your VCDS, directly with Ross-Tech, they in turn will contact the distributor you purchased the lead from to help with support.

CAN I UPGRADE MY OLD HEX+CAN VCDS WITH YOU ?

Yes you can, but contact us beforehand to arrange current pricing and details of where to send your old lead, if a lead is accepted for refund, as we can only accept a genuine and fully working version. We will refund this price back to your original payment for the new V2 VCDS purchased with us.
